Lisbon:Latvia held Germany to a 0-0 draw in the Euro 2004 Group D match today. With this, Latvia keep their hopes of progress alive with a well-earned point that Germany will look on as two dropped. Though considered minnows against the likes of the Czech Republic, Holland and Germany in their group, the Latvians gave a tough fight, giving their opponents no time and space in which to play and striking with pace. German coach Rudi Voeller had earlier urged his men not to take European minnows Latvia for granted in their second Euro 2004 Group D match. Voeller made just one change, with forward Fredi Bobic replacing defender Jens Nowotny as the team switches to a 4-4-2 formation. Frank Baumann, who sat in front of the back four on Tuesday, moved back to partner Christian Worns in central defence in place of Nowotny. The draw leaves Germany with just 2 points from 2 drawn games. They are now in serious danger of missing out on a quarter-final spot from the group of death that also contains Holland and the Czech Republic.
