Madrid:
European football super powers Real Madrid and Bayern Munich meet in the second leg of their UEFA Champions' League knockout round tie at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid today. The first leg in Germany was drawn 1-1 and both sides have been preparing in Spain for what will be the biggest game of their season to date, with a place in the quarter-final draw awaiting the victor. While Real may be clear favourites to win the second leg in Madrid and advance to the quarter-finals of the competition, the Spanish champions appear far from infallible. Bayern, their opponents in tonight's Champions' League game at the Bernabeu Stadium, will be boosted by the news that Ronaldo will miss the match after tearing a hamstring in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Racing Santander. Ronaldo's fellow Brazilian international Roberto Carlos is another noticeable absentee -- UEFA refused to overturn the full back's two game ban, which he received for retaliation following a Martin Demichelis tackle in the first leg of the tie. Raul Bravo, who is likely to fill Carlos' place in the starting line-up, expects a tough test from Real's German examiners: With 44 goals, Real Madrid's Raul is the leading goal scorer in Champions' League history. Real Madrid last won the Champions' League in 2002 -- the year after Bayern Munich won their last European silverware. The two sides have 13 European Cup titles between them.
