Real Madrid went to the top of the Spanish first division (La Liga) on Saturday, courtesy of a 3-0 victory away at arch-rivals Atletico. But the Spanish team may have lost their star striker Ronaldo to injury in the process. Ronaldo scored from the spot after Antonio Lopez was sent off for a foul on Raul just five minutes into the game and added a second on the hour. But when the Brazilian international completed his hat-trick in stoppage time, he tangled with Atletico defender Luis Perea who put through his own net. He had fallen awkwardly on his left ankle and had to be carried from the field on a stretcher. With other matches scheduled for Sunday, they moved to the top of the table with 15 points from seven games, but might have paid a heavy price for doing so.Topics mentioned in this article
