Lisbon:Portugal's victory over Netherlands triggered off probably the biggest party ever seen in Portugal. From the streets of Porto and the fountains of Faro to the squares and parks of Lisbon, all of Portugal was bathed in the national colours of red and green. The victory created scenes of near hysterical celebrations as overwhelmed fans did everything they could to express their excitement - blowing horns, beating drums, hugging, honking car horns, waving flags, and even playing with fire. "This is great, this is great. I have never seen Lisbon like this. This is fantastic. Portugal, Portugal," chanted one excited fan. Even the Marques de Pombal had probably never seen scenes of such jubilation. The Portugese statesman's statue in the centre of Lisbon was like a magnet for hordes of delirious Portuguese fans. The mood was far more sombre at the stadium in Lisbon where the Dutch had only one message for the Portugese. "I think they will lose that game maybe, good luck!" said a Dutch fan. That prediction apart, all the Dutch could really do was watch sadly as the Portugese painted the town red - quite literally! Portugese fans are now looking forward to their team giving them much more to celebrate when they play in their first major final on Sunday.
