I'll go if they want me to, says Leeds boss Warnock

Manchester: Leeds United's vociferous 6,000 travelling fans turned on manager Neil Warnock during their side's 4-0 FA Cup humiliation at Manchester City on Sunday - and the boss revealed he was ready to bow to pressure to stand down.

After the Championship club's supporters openly called for Warnock's dismissal, the 64-year-old veteran admitted that if the new owners, GFH Capital, wanted him to step down before his contract expires in the summer, he would do so.

"I have spoken to them and if they think it will help them, I'm not against it," said Warnock, who has been in the job for exactly one year.

"Whatever is best for Leeds United, really. I am bit long in the tooth for all that.

"It's my contract. It's up in the summer and there is no way I want to stay in the Championship next season. The club has known that all along. My one intention was to go up, that's why I am living away from the family -- my wife let me have one more go at winning my eighth or ninth promotion.

"I came at a difficult time and I think, with what has gone on behind the scenes, I deserve a medal, to be honest.

"You can't be sure of any job. Eleven managers have gone in the Championship, it's a difficult league and a massive financial thing to go up.

"The owners told me they couldn't do it quickly, that they would take their time and have a look at it investment-wise. There is gossip and rumours everywhere, but if it is done the right way, this will be a fabulous club in the next two years."
