Barcelona moved a step closer to the Spanish League title with a 2-0 victory over visiting Albacete on Sunday. Samuel Eto'o and 17 year-old Messi - with his first-ever league strike - provided the goals. After Ronaldinho went close with a free-kick, the visitors showed some of the resolve they hope might somehow save them from relegation. By far the busier of the two goalkeepers was Raul Valbuena. He was hugely impressive in keeping Barcelona at bay. Goalless at the interval, the woodwork came to Albacete's rescue shortly after the restart when Valbuena was eventually beaten. Thanks in the main to the heroics of the 30-year-old, Barcelona's players became increasingly desperate and the fans more restless. In the 66th minute, the league's top scorer hit his 22nd of the season - Samuel Eto'o releasing the pent-up tension. But the points weren't sealed until the first minute of stoppage time. That was when 17-year-old Argentine Leonel Messi scored his first professional goal. The final score was 2-0 and two more victories in the last four games will wrap up the title for the Catalans. The win restored Barca's six-point lead over archrivals Real Madrid with just four games to play. (AP)Topics mentioned in this article
