FC Porto loses to Amadora

Amadora stunned FC Porto 2-1 and helped to cut Porto's lead to just three points over Benfica in the Portuguese league on Sunday. Benfica, which hasn't conceded a goal for seven rounds, beat Academica 3-0 for its sixth successive victory. Benfica improved to 37 points, just three behind Porto after 18 rounds. Braga and Nacional had 35 each. Mauricio of seventh-place Amadora converted a free kick in the 18th minute to open the scoring against Porto. Teammate Rafael Coutinho shot through Porto's defense for 2-0, and Porto responded in the 60th when Lucho Gonzales found the net but slumped to only its second loss of the season. Benfica striker Simao Sabrosa scored in the fifth minute against Academica, and Luisao Silva and Nuno Gomes added a goal each in the second half.
