Parma:
Italian side Parma are through to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Cup following their 1-0 second-leg win over Spanish club Sevilla in Parma on Thursday. The visitors started the second leg impressively and came close to scoring an invaluable away goal in the 15th minute when Adriano Correia's free kick hit the crossbar. But it was Parma that broke the deadlock. Left-foot finish A well-taken corner by Fabio Vignaroli fell to Guiseppe Cardone, whose cool left foot finish put the home side ahead 1-0 in the 19th minute. Sevilla worked hard for an equaliser but Parma's solid defence gave them few chances. Parma held on to win 1-0, giving them a 1-0 aggregate victory over the two legs and a place in the last eight. They remain the only Italian side in the competition. The UEFA Cup quarterfinals will be played over two legs on April 7 and 14. (AP)Topics mentioned in this article
