The Stade du Ray hosted Nice's home game against local rivals Marseille in the French Ligue-1 on Sunday. But the match was suspended in the fourth minute when a fireman was seriously injured after picking up a firework thrown by the Marseille fans. The fireman lost two fingers and Nice police are studying video evidence to try and identify the culprits. Play restarted after a five minute delay and the home side took the lead after 26 minutes. Cyril Rool was on hand to score after the Marseille defence failed to clear a free-kick from Marama Vahirua. It was the midfielder's first goal for two years. Marseille were level after 63 minutes. Garry Bokali's right wing cross was played by Mamadou Niang into the path of Mikael Pagis, who scored his fifth goal of the season. Rool could have restored Nice's lead nine minutes later, but his free-kick hit the crossbar with goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso beaten. The game looked to be heading for a draw, when Marseille's Habib Beye fouled Bakari Kone in the penalty area two minutes into added time. Brazilian midfielder Ederson beat Carrasso from the penalty spot for a dramatic winning goal. Nice's third win in a week moves them out of the bottom three, while Marseille's third defeat in a week leaves them eight points behind leaders Lyon. (AP)Topics mentioned in this article
