The Vicente Caldern Stadium in Madrid hosted Atletico against Real Zaragoza on Sunday. Atletico created the first chance of the game after 14 minutes, when French midfielder Peter Luccin headed wide from a Fernando Torres cross. The home side were dominating possession, but struggling to create chances. Luciano Galletti's run and shot tested Zaragoza goalkeeper Cesar Sanchez for the first time ten minutes before the break. Galletti had the best chance of the first half, but the Argentine midfielder's close range header was well saved by Cesar Sanchez on 41 minutes. Zaragoza didn't have a single effort on goal in the first half, their first chance coming just after the break, when defender Sergio headed a corner across the face of goal. Atletico continued to press forward, but couldn't score, Jos Manuel Jurado's free-kick was saved by Cesar Sanchez, but would probably have missed the goal anyway. With the game heading towards a goalless draw, Real Zaragoza snatched a victory with their first shot on target. Diego Milito played a through ball to Oscar, and the midfielder headed the ball over keeper Leo Franco after his first shot had spun up into the air off a defender's foot. The victory moves Real Zaragoza up to fourth place in La Liga, while Atletico are eighth. (AP)
