Inter Milan forward Hernan Crespo has told dropped teammate Adriano that his chance to play will come. Crespo replaced Adriano in attack alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic after Inter lost its Champions League opener 1-0 at Sporting Lisbon last week. The Argentina international then scored in Inter's 1-0 league victory over title rival AS Roma - its first defeat in 13 games at the Stadio Olimpico since February. "I'm playing a lot at the moment but there will come a time when I'll be on the bench to take a rest," Crespo said. "We'll all play because it's a long season." Brazil forward Adriano hasn't scored for the defending Serie A champion since March 29 last season and reportedly weighs nearly 100 kilograms - 10 kilograms more than his ideal playing weight. "You have to accept the bench with the understanding that there will come a time when you'll be useful to Inter," Crespo said. "There'll be space for everyone. We'll just have to make sure we're ready when called into action." Crespo said the victory over Roma proved Inter's character after losing to Sporting and drawing 1-1 with Sampdoria last weekend. "Too much was said after our draw against Sampdoria when we really deserved to win," Crespo said. "It wasn't easy to come to Rome and win and show great character, but we succeeded and we're very happy." The second-placed Inter hosts Chievo Verona - which hasn't won in the Serie A since April - at the San Siro on Sunday. Inter midfielder Patrick Vieira is out after being sent off against Roma, but defender Nicolas Burdisso is back from a knee injury and is set to play for the first time this season. Palermo, which heads the standings for the first time in its 106-year history, is at Empoli on Sunday. The Sicilian team has won all three of its league games and beat West Ham 1-0 in the UEFA Cup last Thursday. AC Milan, which beat Ascoli 1-0 on Wednesday for its third straight league win, is at Livorno on Saturday. Milan now has one point after it was docked eight points in the Italian match-fixing scandal to be 12th in the standings. (AP)Topics mentioned in this article
