AC Milan beat AEK Athens 3-0 in Group H of the Champions League on Wednesday. Filippo Inzaghi opened the scoring in the 17th minute. New signing Yoann Gourcuff doubled Milan's lead in the 41st, and Kaka added the third from the penalty spot in the 77th. "It was an important victory," Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti said. "It confirmed for me the reliability of all the players at my disposal." Inzaghi headed in Milan captain Paolo Maldini's cross from the left flank for his 55th European goal. Midfielder Gourcuff, signed from Rennes in the off season, met a cross from Kaka on the right with a powerful header to score his first goal for the "rossoneri". Kaka, the game's standout player, finished the scoring after Inzaghi was wrestled to the ground by AEK defender Vangelis Moras. Kaka almost scored in the 57th from a bicycle-kick just inside the penalty area, but AEK goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino parried the shot. AEK had two excellent chances to score - striker Andrija Delibasic couldn't head past Milan goalkeeper Dida in the 13th, and midfielder Vladan Ivic headed wide in the 73rd from an easy position. Milan was docked eight points in the Serie A this season as punishment in Italy's match-fixing scandal. (AP)
