Munich:
Bayern Munich and Germany midfielder Sebastian Deisler has been admitted to a psychiatric unit, suffering from depression. The 23 year old is unlikely to play again this year. At news conference on Friday at the club's training complex, the doctor in charge of Deisler's case said that despite the depression, the player was in good condition. Earlier in the week, Bayern reported that Deisler had a cold and would not be available for Saturday's match against city rival 1860 Munich. But the admission of a massive superstar to a mental institution is not the sort of news that can be kept secret from the press for too long. Deisler has been under treatment for a week and a half. His last game for Bayern was two weeks ago in a 4-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund - Deisler was highly impressive. But he then dropped out of Germany's friendly match against France on November 15, citing "muscular problems." His career has been disrupted by frequent injuries. Deisler has had five operations on his right knee and is not expected to play again this year.Topics mentioned in this article
