Rome:
The Italian soccer federation is prepared to open further disciplinary proceedings against Juventus if the club appeals its sentence in a match-fixing scandal to an ordinary court. FIFA has warned the federation that it is prepared to ban world champion Italy and all Italian clubs from international play if the federation does not prevent Juventus from such action. Juventus announced after a board meeting on Monday that it planned to appeal to an administrative court in Rome. A ruling on July 14 by the FIGC stripped Juventus of its last two Serie A titles and relegated the Turin powerhouse to the second division. A sports appeals court on July 25 reduced Juve's point penalty from 30 to 17. In a letter sent to FIFA on Wednesday, the FIGC said it would "not hesitate to open disciplinary proceedings in the case of an appeal". The FIGC also noted in its letter that Juventus has not yet formally appealed to the administrative court. (AP)Topics mentioned in this article
