The Kolkata Super League is underway in the City of Joy. But there are not too many smiles around as the poor condition of the grounds around the city has cast a dark shadow over the game. Looking at the match between Mohun Bagan and Port Trust, you will find it to hard to believe that this is a top of the table Kolkata Super League encounter. The poor condition of the ground is evident as Mohun Bagan's star studded side failed to find their rhythm and slipped to defeat. Worse was to follow as the IFA took into account the poor state of the pitch and have now faced the 26 time champions to find another venue to play the remainder of their games. The truth is that it is not just Mohun Bagan's ground that is in a sorry state. Apart from the Salt Lake Stadium, it is a similar story all over the city. One of the reasons being the incessant rain over the last few weeks. Most Club officials feel that it is an issue the IFA needs to address at the earliest. "IFA should think about it. I think IFA should demand ten more grounds from the government," said Anjan Mitra, Secretary, Mohun Bagan Football Club. The shine of Kolkata premier division league is fading away. Though a lot of people are coming for the matches, the worst condition of the grounds have degraded the standard the game.
