Real Madrid took on bottom placed Tenerife at home and inside 15 minutes they were in the lead. Barcelona managed to pull one back through Rivaldo but it was too little too late. Barcelona suffered their 10th defeat of the season. Valencia vs Deportiva La Coruna With Real Madrid temporarily on top of the La Liga, Valencia knew a win and the title could be heading to the Mestalla for the first time in 34 years.
