Having suffered their fifth successive defeat, depleted JCT have an uphill task when they lock horns tomorrow with Vasco in the ninth round of the 6th edition of National Football League at Nehru Stadium here. Vasco, who beat East Bengal and Salgaocar in their last matches, are leading the table along with Zee Churchill, Mahindras and Mohun Bagan with 15 points each. Keeper Ramos, back after a match suspension, will add more solidity in the goal. The return of medio Kashimov Avazbe will give more thrust in the midfield which failed to play cohesively against Salgaocar. Vasco defence, which did a commendable job against Salgaocar to gain full points, and its hopes of scoring goals will depend on the in-form striker Rui Wanderley Weis who can strike target from distance. JCT, haunted by the string of losses, are at the bottom of the table with two points and would have to pull up their socks to give an all round performance if they are to beat Vasco who are playing well and are unbeaten at home so far in four matches. JCT, who are yet to taste victory, will pin their hopes on Hardip Singh Saini, Hardip Sangha and Hardip Gill along with Nigerian Stephen Abarowei, who are all capable of turning the tide on their side on their given day.
