Gelsenkirchen, Germany:
England's exit from the world cup has also meant the end of the road for David Beckham as England captain. The Real Madrid midfielder, who has been England's captain for the past six years, decided to quit the job after England went down to Portugal on Saturday night's world cup quarter final versus Portugal. The 31-year-old who was forced to go off in the 51st minute during Saturday's game due to injury has said, he will still continue playing international football. Beckham believed it was the right time to pass on the captain's job as England now start a new era under new coach Steve McClaren, who takes over from Sven Goran Eriksson.Topics mentioned in this article
