Ghana beat Jamaica 4-1 on Monday in a friendly ahead of the World Cup. Udinese midfielder Sulley Muntari gave Ghana the lead in the sixth minute, beating Donovan Ricketts after he saved a shot from Asamoah Gyan. The Black Stars made it 2-0 in the 19th when defender Damion Stewart scored an own-goal. Ghana captain Stephen Appiah sent a right-footed volley from the edge of the box that Stewart attempted to clear but headed into the top corner of his own net. In the 58th, Jason Euell got one back for Jamaica by tapping in a rebound from Shane Crawford's 25-meter free kick. The shot was initially stopped by Ghana goalkeeper Sammy Adjei. Ghana midfielder Michael Essien then found Appiah on the right of the midfield and the captain's low, diagonal shot was deflected inside the near post in the 66th. Two minutes later, Ricketts couldn't handle Gyan's shot from 20 metres and Matthew Amoah knocked in the final goal. Ghana, playing its third World Cup warmup match, got its first win after a loss to Mexico and draw with Turkey. Ghana is in Group E at the World Cup with Italy, the Czech Republic, and the United States. Jamaica failed to qualify. (AP)
