Title aspirants Zee Churchill routed Punjab Police 5-1 to move to the second spot in the Tata National Football League standings here today. Leading 3-0 at half time, Churchill scored through Yusif Yakubu (25th, 42nd), Roque Barretto (30th), Sayed Amin Mousavi (58th) and substitute Somatai Shaiza (72nd). Giving a good fight to their rivals, Punjab Police initially came close to scoring thrice. Resting their key players for their next match against East Bengal, Churchill played 4-3-3 system instead of 4-4-2 as they bought in striker Mousavi in place of defender Osumanu Husseini. Once they got into their groove, the striker trio of Adbul Saley, Yakubu and Amin made inroads into rival half keeping rival defence on tenterhooks. Playing the role of playmaker, medio Aqueel Ansari linked well with them and supplied passes at regular intervals. Zee Churchill with eight wins, five draw and two losses have collected 29 points from 15 matches and are second behind Vasco, who have 31 points from 16 matches. Punjab Police, who suffered their 13th loss, remained at the bottom of standings with 7 points from as many matches. (PTI)
