London:There are increasing chances that England captain David Beckham may now move to Spanish side Real Madrid. There are reports that the star has spoken to the clubs agents while holidaying in the US. One of Barcelona's presidential candidates, Joan Laporta is running for the post on his bid to buy the player from Manchester United for $50 million, the highest transfer fee for any English player ever. Laporta was a rank outsider at the start of the race but he is now neck and neck with the favourite Lluis Bassat ahead of Sunday's vote. Bassat, a highly respected 61-year-old publicist, responded to the news of Beckham's link with Laporta by announcing on Wednesday that he had made contact with Ajax Amsterdam with a view to signing Ronald Koeman as coach. But the British press is reporting that Beckham's wife Victoria, the former "Posh Spice" girl is pressing for his move to Barcelona. Posh has never seen eye to eye with United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who is thought to blame her for luring him away from the training ground to lead a showbiz lifestyle.
