Madrid:
How does Real Madrid manage to win all their champions league games and do just the opposite in the Spanish Primera Liga? Deportivo la Coruna, meanwhile, hold on to their form in sync for both competitions. First they beat Manchester United in the Champions League and now they are still at the top in the ninth week of the Spanish Primera Liga. Celta Vigo opened the scoring with Alexander Mostovoi's corner kick which was picked up by Catanha to put Celta in the lead. The equaliser came 25 minutes later, when off Zinedine Zidane's pass, Guiti shot the ball into the goal with a precise lob. The second half went with neither teams scoring any more goals and at the final whistle Celta and Real Madrid were tied at 1-1. Valencia and Real Zaragosa made a tentative start. Valencia surged ahead in the 32nd minute as Kily Gonzalez skipped past a defender and with a left foot thunderbolt from 24 metres gave Lainez no chance. Kily doubled the lead for Valencia in the 80th minute. Valencia's 2-0 win has moved them to the fourth place in the Primera Liga with 17 points. Sevilla never threatened the league leaders Deportivo. Jose Emilio Amavisca was creating the best chances on the left and it was in the 25th minute that Diego Tristan scored from one of his passes. The best chance for Sevilla came near the end of the match from a freekick. But Deportivo goalkeeper Nuno Espirito Santo saved it to ensure his team's 1-0 victory and its place at the top of the Spanish championship. Barcelona and Malaga struggled to find the net early during their first division match on Saturday. Malaga finally opened the score in the 75th minute. Julio Dely Valdes helped Dario Silva give Malaga the advantage. Less than a minute later, Patrick Kluivert found Rivaldo inside the area and the Brazilian equalised with a neat chip and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.League Standings | |||||
