Real Madrid struggle, Barca on top
Real Madrid continue to struggle their way through the Spanish Primera Liga season, losing 4-2 to Las Palmas at the Insular stadium on Wednesday night.

Real Madrid continue to struggle their way through the Spanish Primera Liga season, losing 4-2 to Las Palmas at the Insular stadium on Wednesday night. Pedro Munitis and Zinedine Zidane cancelled out goals from Pablo Lago and Jorge Larena, that had seen the home side take the lead twice, but Ruben Castro scored twice in the final 15 minutes to seal all three points for the home side. Las Palmas playing host to Real Madrid took the lead after just 8 minutes. Pablo Lago made the most of a fortunate rebound off a defender to fire home his second goal of the season. Real however leveled the match in the 33rd minute, Pedro Munitis with the goal. But a couple of minutes later and a foul by Ivan Campo on Jorge Larena in the penalty area, gave the hosts a penalty, which was converted by Jorge as Las palmas were in the lead once again. Real managed to equalise once again, with Zinedine Zidane producing one of his speciality free kicks in the 41st minute. Ten minutes into the second half and Real were down to ten men when Munitis was sent off for a challenge on Olias. And Las Palmas took advantage of that taking the lead for the third time in the match, Ruben Castro scoring with just 14 minutes remaining. And Real faced more misery when Ruben scored his second of the match, with a perfect lob shot, to leave Iker Casillas stranded, as Las Palmas completed a 4-2 drumming of the Spanish Champions. Deportivo manage draw against Villareal Villarreal who were at the top of the La Liga took the lead after just three minutes. Some great passing by the hosts, with Victor Fernandez getting the final touch for his second goal of the season. Deportivo only managed to level the match in the 63rd minute, thanks to a brilliantly taken free kick by the evergreen Donato. The 39-year-old Brazilian almost scored again for Deportivo ten minutes from full time, but the Villarreal keeper pulling off a good save, as the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Barca down Mallorca 3-0 Barcelona were ahead after Luis Enrique's header found the back of the net after just nine minutes, against Real Mallorca. Twenty-seven minutes on the clock and Enrique had doubled his tally of goals in the match with a sweetly struck shot from the top of the penalty area. Barcelona were up 2-0. Barcelona had sealed the match in the 32nd minute after Geovanni's cross found Javier Saviola, who had no trouble tapping the ball home, Barca going on to win 3-0. This victory puts Barcelona at the top of the La Liga standings with 14 points. The Spanish giants are yet to lose a match in the league. After their draw, Villarreal find themselves in third place, behind Real Betis on goal difference, with Deportivo wrapping up the top five with 11 points just behind celta Vigo.
