Derby, England:Derby advanced to the Football League Championship playoff final by beating Southampton in a penalty shootout on Tuesday despite losing 3-2 at home to the Saints.
With the two teams tied at 4-4 on aggregate, Derby prevailed on penalites 4-3.
In the May 28 final at Wembley Stadium, Billy Davies' team will meet the winner between West Bromwich Albion and Wolves. West Brom hosts Wednesday's second leg with a 3-2 advantage.
Leading 2-1 from Saturday's first leg at Southampton, Derby added to its lead when central defender Darren Moore scored three minutes after the opening kickoff at Pride Park.
John Viafara equalized within a minute, however, and then put Saints ahead 2-1 with a 54th-minute strike.
Saints' Leon Best headed a corner into his own net to put the Rams back in front on aggregate the 66th minute. But Grzegorz Rasiak, who used to play for Derby, gave Southampton a 3-2 advantage in the 89th minute and forced extra time.
