English Premier League leaders Liverpool were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Fulham on Wednesday after a spectacular display of goalkeeping from Dutch international Edwin Saar. Michael Owen went close to scoring but remained on 99 goals in his Liverpool career. Micheal Owen knew one goal would seal his century for Liverpool, when the Reds played host to Fulham. Owen stole the ball from Andy Melville, but Edwin van der Saar pulled off a good save. Owen had another chance, after Gary McAllister found the star striker but Saar proved too good this time as well. Close to half time and Steven Gerrard beat Fulham's keeper but his shot found the post. Owen could have reached the 100 mark but his shot was deflected wide. The resultant corner saw Gerrard with a chance but the Dutch keeper was in great form and pulled of another save. In the second half, Fulham could have been a goal down, after defender Rufus Brevett nearly scored an own goal, but the post came to his rescue. Van der Saar managed to get Fulham the one point after he pulled off another save off a Danny Murphy shot. Despite the goalless draw, Liverpool still keep the top spot in the Premeirship, four points ahead of Arsenal. Leeds United are in third place with 28 points. Manchester United move up to fifth place after a five-nil thrashing of Derby County.
