Rastatt, Germany:
Germany coach Joachim Loew says he is against boycotting European Championship in Ukraine this summer over alleged mistreatment of jailed ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.
Tymoshenko is serving a seven-year sentence on charges of abusing power. She is on hunger strike to protest the prison's alleged mistreatment. Her case has become a political nightmare for Ukraine, as prominent EU and other officials have been talking about boycotting matches that are scheduled to be played in Ukraine during the continental tournament next month.
Loew said Monday he supports "humanitarian treatment" of Tymoshenko, but added that boycotting Ukraine matches "does not make sense."
Ukraine and Poland are co-hosting Euro 2012 that runs from June 8 to July 1.
