It could have been a super-thriller of a T20. In the end, rain played the devil as India lost the match by 11-runs by the D/L method against South Africa. A look (AFP and AP images).
The day began with a mighty 2nd wicket stand by Jacques Kallis and Coling Ingram in which they got their individual fifties, helped South Africa reach a huge total of 219/4 in 20 overs.
Colin Ingram top-scored with 78 runs and Jacques Kallis scored 61. The two had put up a partnership of 119 runs for the 2nd wicket.
Suresh Raina proved to be expensive in the end as he gave up 49 runs in 4 overs, but was the only one among the Indian bowlers to pick up two wickets.
Gautam Gambhir looked in good touch once the chase began as he was unbeaten on 49 off 28 balls with 7 fours and 1 six.
Robin Uthappa gave good support to Gautam Gambhir in the opening partnership before the rain stopped play. Uthappa was on 18 off 19 balls.
In the end, it came to a naught as incessant rain halted the match for good and the one-off T20 was awarded to the hosts.
