Harbhajan Singh has always showed signs of being a capable enough bat who can contribute if need be.
He has often chipped in with a quick 20 or 30 in the limited over version of the game but Test matches have always been Bhajji's forte, whether with the ball or the bat.
Lately the 'Turbunator' has been giving more time to his batting in the nets and has confessed himself that players like Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag have told him that he is capable of scoring a century in the Tests.
This encouragement from the batting duo it seems worked wonders for Harbhajan as he has now scored two consecutive Test centuries in the first two Test matches against New Zealand.
Copybook stuff: It all started with a gutsy knock in the first innings at Ahmedabad, after a middle order collapse threatened India's lead. But Harbhajan's timely 69 helped India go ahead.
The roar: Harbhajan again came to his side's rescue with the bat after Chris Martin's five-wicket haul on Day 4 of the first Test put New Zealand on the path to an upset victory.
But along with VVS Laxman, Bhajji managed to keep the Kiwi bowlers at bay on the last day and deservingly brought up his maiden Test century.
Bhajji on song: Kiwis had bowled well to trigger another middle-order collapse in the Hyderabad. But Bhajji had other ideas
Bhajji on song: Along with Sreesanth Bhajji started a rearguard which left the Kiwis wondering how to get that last wicket.
Bhajji on song: Used every orthodox and unorthodox shot to plunder the New Zealand bowlers, hitting Daniel Vettori for consecutive sixes.
Bhajji on song: Harbhajan brought up his second consecutive Test century and remained unbeaten on 111. He leads the batting charts in the series with 295 runs.
