A Bangladesh delegation arrived on Saturday to assess security for their team's proposed tour to Pakistan, three years after attacks on Sri Lankan players saw international cricket suspended in the country.

The security situation in the country continues to hit Pakistan cricket badly, with plans to launch a premier league and invite Sri Lanka to play in a series later this year being put on hold.

The security apparatus of the PCA stadium, scheduled to host the World Cup semifinal, was tested here today as pharmacists from the state staged a vociferous protest when the Pakistani team was practicing inside the stadium.

To ensure foolproof security, nearly 1400 cops will be deployed in and around the Punjab Cricket Association stadium, which is set to host its first match of the World Cup on Thursday between Netherlands and South Africa.

Foolproof security arrangements would be in place for a smooth conduct of two league matches and a semi-final tie of the World Cup to be played at Mohali.
