Dhaka: Bangladesh's coach said on Wednesday he feared the postponement of Pakistan's tour to the country would hit his team's chances at this year's ICC World Twenty20 championships.Bangladesh's government has put tours by foreign sports teams on hold because of security concerns following last month's mutiny at a military base in the capital, Dhaka, in which more than 70 people were killed.
Coach Jamie Siddons said the Bangladeshi team had been banking on Pakistan's tour to help them prepare for the Twenty20 event in England in June.
"We've got no real cricket until then, which is a bit of a concern for us," Siddons said.
The Pakistani team were originally scheduled to play two Twenty20 matches and five One-Day Internationals from March 10-22.
Siddons said he was hopeful the security situation would improve in Bangladesh and there was a possibility Pakistan could tour in October or November.
Altaf said the positive thing amid the cancellations is that Pakistan is not scheduled to host too many teams in the next 12 months and plays most of its cricket abroad.
"That at least ensures that our cricket goes on and in the meantime we can concentrate on improving our domestic structure as well," he added.
He said PCB has suffered financially and the board was doing its best to keep the budget under control.
"Cancellations by Australia and India and the relocation of the Champions Trophy have also hit us. Although the ICC has assured us we will get the hosting fees of $2.75 million for the Champions Trophy even if it is held in South Africa this year," he stated.
Altaf admitted the attack on the Sri Lankan team was a big incident and it would take some time for Pakistan cricket to recover from it.
He said the cancellation of Pakistan team's tour to Bangladesh by their board was disappointing.
"But we would only comment on it once we get a full explanation in writing from them on the reasons for not hosting us," he stated.

With 21 wickets in his first 12 matches at an economy rate of well under six, Sunil Narine has been Kolkata's main-man with the ball.
