Following are the statistical highlights of second day's play of the second India-New Zealand cricket Test at the McLean Park in Napier on Friday.

  • New Zealand's 619 for nine wickets declared is their third total of 600-plus - their best ever against India in New Zealand, bettering their 502 at Christchurch in 1967-68.

  • New Zealand's aforesaid total is their second best against India - their best being 630 for six wickets declared at Mohali in 2003-04.

  • At McLean Park, their previous highest was 561 against Sri Lanka in 2004-05. New Zealand's aforesaid total is their third highest - their highest being 671 for four against Sri Lanka in the 1990-91 Wellington Test.

  • Jesse Ryder's outstanding innings of 201 is the eighth double hundred by a New Zealander at home (and the 15th in all). Matthew Sinclair holds a record for having posted two double hundreds. Ryder is the first batsman to hit a double hundred at McLean Park, Napier.

  • Fifteen 200-plus innings have been witnessed for New Zealand. Stephen Fleming has made three - the most by a New Zealander.

  • Ryder is the third New Zealander to make double hundreds against India, joining Bert Sutcliffe - 230 not out at Delhi in 1955-56 and Graham Dowling - 239 at Christchurch in 1967-68.

  • Ryder is the 10th left-hander to make a double century against India.

  • McCullum (115 off 140 balls) registered his third century, his first two being 143 against Bangladesh at Dhaka in October 2004 and 111 against Zimbabwe at Harare in August 2005.

  • McCullum became the first New Zealand wicketkeeper to register three centuries.

  • Daniel Vettori (55 off 72 balls) recorded his 19th fifty - his third against India.

  • New Zealand's innings contained five fifties, equalling their previous record - their first ever instance against India.

  • For the second time in New Zealand, three batsmen in New Zealand's innings posted hundreds - the previous instance was against England at Auckland in 1983-84.

  • Sehwag's 34 off 25 balls is his highest score as captain. In his only Test as skipper against Sri Lanka at Ahmedabad in 2005-06, he had posted 20 & 0.
