New Delhi:
"I don't think in India one should worry (about security) like Pakistan. I don't think that type of situation is here. Our security forces are quite competent and public is alert," Pawar, the union agriculture minister told reporters here.
The ICC vice-President said to decide on how to ensure security for IPL which is coinciding with general elections, it will be necessary to understand the view of the government.
"It's not about any pressure from the government. What they (government) want to say we will have to understand and respond accordingly," Pawar said.
"Together with this, I will have to see the view of board (BCCI) and the view of IPL teams also before making any comment (on this issue)," he added.
Pawar, however, insisted that he was not authorised to comment of IPL affairs since he was no longer the BCCI President.
"You know, I am not the office bearer of the board (BCCI) now. So, I can not reply to the question as to what should be done (to ensure security of IPL tournaments)" Pawar said.
