New Delhi:Impressed with Ishant Sharma's work ethics, Team India spearhead Zaheer Khan predicted a bright and long future for his young new ball colleague.
Zaheer said Ishant has already given a good account of his talent by cementing his place in the side in no time and the beanpole pacer would go on to serve the country for a long time.
"In one year, Ishant has established himself in the Indian team. This itself tells how talented he is. He is a good learner and always willing to work. I really quite enjoy bowling with him," Zaheer said.
"I am sure Ishant will play many more matches for India. Yes, we also have a new crop of bowlers, that is why there is tremendous competition as well, as far as pace bowling is concerned," he added.
The left-arm seamer felt zeal to work hard and sticking together as a unit in times of crisis were the secrets of India's recent success.
"It was a very good season for me and for the team. The whole team is working hard. The team is blessed with talented cricketers. The new comers are shaping well. The whole team is keen to do well," he told a website.
"Willing to work and staying together as a team, are the two factors that the team is religiously following.
"We are spending lot of time to improve our fitness as well. Me and the team are going ahead towards the right directions," Zaheer said.
As for himself, the 30-year-old said he was working on change of pace and sharpening his yorkers.
"After bowling two express deliveries, if someone bowls a slower one, it becomes a surprise delivery. Change of pace is the key to bring variety which I am trying to do.
"I am also spending time to perfect my yorkers. I want to get my rhythm by bowling at the nets," he said.
Zaheer recently shifted side in the Indian Premier League joining Mumbai Indians from Bangalore Royal Challengers and the Mumbaikar said he was very happy.
"Yes, I am. Mumbai is my city. I did not find any place in the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team in the early phase of my cricket career, had to go to Baroda. It happened exactly in the case of IPL as well. I am happy that the swap did take place only after a year," he said.
