Statistical highlights of the fifth and final day of the second Test between India and England on Tuesday.

  • Yuvraj Singh (86 off 93 balls) produced his best innings against England, eclipsing his 85 not out at Chennai in the first Test of the series. Yuvraj's second half-century against England is his fifth.

  • With two excellent innings of 80-plus, Yuvraj has recorded a series average of 70.66 - 212 in four innings - his career-best series performance, consisting of of two or more Tests, surpassing his tally of 230 in three Tests against Pakistan in 2003-04.

  • Zaheer Khan has been adjudged the Man of the Series for the second time in Tests - he had first got his Player of the Series award for claiming 18 wickets at an average of 20.33 in the three-Test series against England.

  • Zaheer Khan was the most successful bowler, capturing 8 wickets at 21.00 runs apiece. Harbhajan Singh and Swann had also bagged 8 wickets each but Zaheer recorded a better average.

  • For England, Andres Strauss is the leading run-getter - 252 at an average of 84.00, including two hundreds.

  • Dhoni's first duck as skipper is his third in Tests. He has posted two ducks against England and one against Australia.

  • For the first time, three Indian batsmen have been 'run out' in an innings against England. Overall, six times, three or more Indian players have been adjudged as 'run out' in an innings. The only instance of four run-outs happened against Pakistan at Peshawar in 1954-55.

    India with a 1-0 series win in England in 2007, followed by 1-0 in the 2008-09 rubber, have now won two successive series against England - this has happened for the second time for India against England.

  • After four successive Test wins, the just concluded Mohali Test is the first under Dhoni's captaincy, which could not produce a result. He still enjoys a winning percentage of 80.

  • With his two magnificent knocks in the Mohali Test - 179 and 97, Gambhir has registered an excellent feat. His tally of 276 runs in a Test match is the highest by an Indian batsman against England.

  • Gambhir has narrowly missed recording a century in each innings of a Test match against England.

  • Chandu Borde, Mohinder Amarnath and sourav Ganguly, and Gaugtam Gambhir are now the four Indians with a hundred and a ninety in the same Test match

  • Gambhir got his first Man of the Match award.

  • Gambhir is the leading run-getter this year - 361 runs at an average of 90.25, he was the only one to amass 300 runs in the series.
