New Delhi:
I would request the PCB to have sporting pitches for the Sri Lanka series which is not going to be an easy one, Shoaib told reporters after leading his Federal areas team in the final of the Pentangular Cup one-day tournament here.
Shoaib said he was delighted that Sri Lanka were coming to Pakistan after the Indians cancelled their Test tour. It will be a tough series as Sri Lanka is a very good side in both forms of the game, he said.
To a question that the Pakistani selectors were planning to counter the Sri Lankan spin menace with pace, Shoaib said he and the other pacers were ready for the challenge.
The national selection committee has started doing its homework on the Sri Lankans tour with special focus on how to handle the spin attack of Muttiah Muralitharan and Ajantha Mendis, the mystery spinner.
National selector Saleem Jaffer said there were two bowlers in Pakistan who had similar actions like Mendis and they would be used to give practice to the Pakistani batsmen. We will also watch video recordings of Mendis to find an answer to his bowling which the Indians also have not been able to do so far, Jaffer said.
