Andrew Strauss, who scored 123 in the first innings, got another hundred in the second innings. With this hundred, Strauss became the second Englishman after Graham Gooch to post a hundred in each innings of a Test match against India. Gooch had made 333 & 123 in the 1990 Lord's Test.

Paul Collingwood got his seventh Test hundred that was second against the hosts.
Strauss became the 10th English batsman and the 51st overall to hit hundreds in both innings of a Test match. The other England players to have hit hundreds in both innings of a Test match are -- Charles Russel, Herbert Sutcliffe, Wally Hammond, Eddie Paynter, Dennis Crompton, Graham Gooch, Alex Stewart, Michael Vaughan and Marcus Trescothick.
Only seven batsmen have recorded a hundred in each innings of a Test match against India - the first six being Don Bradman (Australia), Everton Weekes (West Indies), Duleep Mendis (Sri Lanka), Graham Gooch (England), Gary Kirsten (South Africa) and Aravinda de Silva (Sri Laka).
Strauss and Collingwood put on 214 runs - England's best ever partnership for the fourth wicket against India in India. The previous record partnership was between Ken Barrington and Ted Dexter for 206 runs in 1961-62.
With Strauss' wicket, Harbhajan Singh (310) has become the second most successful off-spinner in Test cricket.
Virender Sehwag completed 50 Test catches when he caught Matt prior off Ishant Sharma.
Sehwag became the highest Test run-getter of the year.
England (316 & 311/9d), for the first time, have posted 300-plus in each innings of a Test match in India.
