New Delhi:
Atherton had blamed Pietersen's indifferent and odd attitude towards spin bowling for England trailing 0-3 in the seven-match ODI series against India and advised him to urgently change his mentality.
"The England captain's blinkered view has not served his side well in the opening two One-Day Internationals in India... He does not consider spin to be a legitimate part of the game - or at least an important part of a winning game plan - and when you are in the middle of a tour to India, that is a dangerous attitude to hold," Atherton has said.
Vaughan, however, felt otherwise saying Pietersen has been doing a good job so far though he was learning the tricks of the trade.
"Kevin has been a tremendous captain though he is still learning. He cannot have every decision right. I feel Kevin has done a very good job so far," Vaughan told reporters at the sidelines of the 'Hindustan Times leadership Summit'.
Vaughan also said he did not consider Mahendra Singh Dhoni a better captain than Pietersen just because the home team was winning.
"Form of our batsmen is down but there is a lot of credit to the Indian bowlers as well. Dhoni brings a lot of energy and instills confidence into his teammates. coach Gary Kirsten is also doing a very good job with the team," he said.
