England team reach Kanpur, India players off to RP's home

England team on Tuesday arrived here to play the third One-dayer against India but the hosts would reach the city late in the night as the players paid a visit to pacer RP Singh's residence to attend a function in Lucknow.

The teams arrived at Lucknow airport on the scheduled time, from where England players hit the road to reach here but the Indian players left for RP home.

Only support staff including coach Gary Kirsten, bowling coach Venkatesh Prasad and fielding coach Robin Singh left for Kanpur, Ramlal, SP of Kanpur said adding that there was some function at the RP Singh's home, which the Indian players wanted to attend.

Meanwhile, the England team as well as Indian support staff were accorded a warm and traditional welcome at Hotel Landmark.

According to police, strict security measures have been put in place in the vicinity of the hotel and Green Park stadium, where the match will be played on Thursday.
