Recalling some of his best moments, he said "the first test wicket, I remember it.. the five wicket haul in Johannesburg, the 10 wicket haul at Kotla.. I have some great memories. It has been a great journey", Kumble told reporters at his Bangalore residence.

His decision to quit cricket had been supported by his family, with whom he now plans to spend time and take a vacation.

On what it would take to create another Anil Kumble, he laughed. "It is no secret...go out there and enjoy. Be disciplined".

However, he was quick to add that Indian cricket was in safe hands. "Others will come and raise the bar and create new benchmarks. India will move forward", he said.

An emotional Kumble said, "I will miss the green room.. the camaraderie". But he said it would be great to sit back and watch others perform, to watch them achieve their goals and goals for the country.

Recalling his moments as a player and captain, he said "As a player every moment is tough, every moment is challenge.

As a captain it is always tough. The Aussie issue, handling it off field was not easy. It was the first time, I encountered it. You learn a lot of things from these challenges", he said.
