Karachi:Pakistan vice captain and middle-order batsman Misbah-ul-Haq on Sunday came out in support of former coach Geoff Lawson, saying he had learnt a lot from the former Australian during his 16-month stint with the national team.
"He (Lawson) gave me a lot of confidence as coach," Misbah said.
"I learnt a lot from Lawson during the past several months," he added.
The former Australia Test pacer was sacked by the Pakistan Cricket Board last month in the wake of the team's poor performance and former skipper Intikhab Alam was appointed as the new national team coach.
Misbah is part of the team which is currently playing in the Pentangular Cup matches and hopes Pakistan will be able to use the experience here in the three-match one-day series against the West Indies to be played in Abu Dhabi from November 12-16.
"We are getting some good match practice by playing the Pentangular Cup games. The series against the West Indies will be a good opportunity for us and hopefully we will do well in it," said Misbah.
