Karachi:
Miandad was responding to media reports, which said he had been offered to become the national coach during his meeting with the Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ejaz Butt on Wednesday.
"There is no truth in these reports that I aiming to become coach once again. I have been asked to join the Board's governing body and I aim to do that because I am ready to serve Pakistan cricket in any capacity. But I am not looking for any coaching job with the national team or to become even a selector," Miandad said.
Miandad, who was removed as the national coach in 2004, has served thrice in the prestigious but difficult position with Pakistan gaining some notable victories under him.
Miandad, who has played 124 Tests for Pakistan, said he went to meet Butt as a courtesy call and was asked to serve as a governing body member.
"I want to help Pakistan cricket move forward. But a lot of hard work needs to be done and the board system and set-up really needs to be improved and made more productive and accountable and if the new Chairman wants to do this I am ready to cooperate and help in any way," he said.
Miandad's visit to the PCB headquarters at the Gaddafi Stadium was his first one to the venue in four years.
