Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardene heaped praise on his young team and said it was the character and the sense of responsibility showed by the young players that helped them to clinch the series.

"The young players have taken a lot of responsibility, they have helped to take down pressure from the seniors and the seniors players also pushed themselves hard and contributed to the win," Jayawardene said.

"The guys showed tremendous character after the 2nd Test debacle, we spoke about the areas to improve and each one took responsibilities," he added.

Asked about the spin magic of Ajantha Mendis and Muttiah Muralitharan, he said, "Both the spinners, Mendis and Muralitharan, bowled in tandem and helped to keep India's total under control."

Although, the Lankan spin twin made the Indians dance to their music, it was debutant pacer Dimmika Prasad who set the stage by ripping through the Indian top order in both the innings.

Praising the fast bowler, Jayawardene said the youngster had shown lot of nerves and bowled brilliantly.

"This guy has a big heart. He bought that extra pace into the game and showed a lot of nerves to bowl against some of the best batters," he said.
