Mumbai:Have you always wanted to express your opinion on controversial umpiring decisions, bowling changes or the make up of the team all in a live environment?
Of course, almost everyone of us has wondered at some point or the other, "I wish I could tell that player or that umpire what I think. I wish my word mattered".
Well for us arm experts, here is a fresh new way to enjoy the game. The man who brought you Hawkeye now wants to take a closer look at your pulse. A first-of-its-kind technology will make its debut during the first semi-final of the Indian Premier League.
Dr Paul Hawkins has designed an instant poll to catch the popular pulse of IPL fanatics. The poll is available on the tournament's official site iplt20.com and it will be used in broadcasts.
"IPL is all about innovation as is T20 and it's also all about the fans and Pulse is just for the fans," says Dr Paul Hawkins, MD of Hawkeye Innovations.
Hawkins is the man behind Hawk-Eye, the sometimes controversial technology that is used to plot ball movement in LBW decisions. Pulse is a project Hawkins and his team of 12, have been working on for the past six months to make T20 and the IPL more interactive
So this may just be an experiment for IPL but it's an experiment that Hawkins is keenly monitoring, for like Hawk Eye he's hoping Pulse too will someday find its way into cricket's other formats.
