New Delhi:

The BCCI on Wednesday said that reports of Sunil Gavaskar being sacked from his post in the International Cricket Council are false.

The statement also said that representatives from cricket's world body would discuss with Gavaskar the controversial column written by him.

Niranjan Shah, the Indian board's secretary, released a statement saying that media reports of Gavaskar's sacking originating from a London-based newspaper are incorrect.

The statement says: "Media speculation about removal of Sunil Gavaskar as Chairman Cricket Committee of ICC based on a report in a London paper is totally incorrect. ICC has confirmed to Indian Board that there has been no decision to remove Sunil Gavaskar."

Gavaskar, in a recent column, had likened cricket administrators from England and Australia to "dinosaurs" who are opposed to the changes being brought to cricket by the Indian Premier League.
