HAMILTON:
''We thought yesterday it was a bat-first wicket but with the overhead conditions and the fact that the pitch has been under cover we feel there might be a bit in it for the bowlers,'' captain Daniel Vettori said.
New Zealand made one change to the team which beat England by six wickets in the first match at Wellington on Saturday. Seam bowler Michael Mason replaced spinner Jeetan Patel in the New Zealand XI.
England named an unchanged lineup.
''We just want to go out there as a team again and show people what we can do with the same side,'' captain Paul Collingwood said.
''It's a team that has been very successful. We know each other's games and have a lot of confidence in each other and hopefully we can produce a better performance.''
Thunder storms were forecast for the afternoon.
Teams:
New Zealand: Brendon McCullum, Jesse Ryder, Jamie How, Ross Taylor, Scott Styris, Peter Fulton, Jacob Oram, Daniel Vettori, captain, Kyle Mills, Chris Martin, Michael Mason. Paul Hitchcock, 12th man.
