Adelaide:It was time to say goodbye to Australia for the fab four of Indian cricket. Ganguly, Kumble, Rahul and Laxman left the stage to make way for the young guns. But not before they made sure that Indians are worthy of the No 2 Test spot.
"Now a days we travel so much overseas, players have also started getting used to it and as I said before, it is also the quality of players. If you see the batting order in Tests with players like Sehwag, Sachin, Rahul, myself, Laxman have been successful overseas for a long long period," said Sourav Ganguly, 103 Tests and 311 ODIs for India.
Gautam Gambhir, kept aside from that star-studded outfit due to a sore shoulder is a part of the youth brigade, which will take on Australia in the twenty20 international on Friday and the one dayers.
Accompanying him are Suresh Raina and UP pacer Praveen Kumar. They will be expected to pick up from where their seniors left off.
"For the past six-seven years our performance overseas have improved immensely and I hope it carries on that way," Ganguly added.
In fact, BCCI has also decided to send Manoj Tiwary as a cover for Yuvraj Singh incase he fails to recover from his injury before the one dayers. The team will leave for Melbourne on Wednesday.
