New Delhi:
Thought so about the song that featured Shah Rukh Khan, which was played everywhere, including whenever India won and whenever he was there in the stands.
The film star certainly annoyed the Board, as indeed did many others, sometimes even comically so.
And annoyed too, was the World Anti-doping Doping Agency, which hogged the headlines throughout a year which had as many low-lights as highlights, in the world of sport and especially in cricket.
5. Shah Rukh and films
Why we don't think agree with the BCCI - the inept handling of the Shah Rukh controversy.
King Khan had this to say when the BCCI accused him of promoting his films during India's matches
"When I go to watch cricket, they say I'm using that as a platform to promote my films. So here I am on a film platform, and I want to mention cricket, so that they feel I promote the game as well," said Shah Rukh.
4. BCCI trying to stop player endorsements after world cup
And remember this one, the BCCI's attempt to put a cap on players' endorsements after the disastrous World Cup. Of course, they said that it was former players who had suggested this.
"Some kind of cap must be there. So arising out of that, it is not an original thought of the BCCI," said N Srinivasan, Treasurer, BCCI.
3. Kapil versus BCCI and ICL vs IPL
"I think this is the cream of the country, who made everybody proud, and made themselves proud," said Kapil Dev, Chairman & Director, ICL Board.
Kapil Dev promoted the ICL, which didn't make the BCCI too proud of him
"Therefore, in light of this, Mr Kapil Dev ceases to be the Chairman of the National Cricket Academy," Said N Srinivasan, Treasurer, BCCI
And they made quite a song and dance, asking employees to stay away from the breakaway league.
2. Vengsarkar versus BCCI
He was asked to fold and forget his newspaper columns, but Chairman of Selectors Dilip Vengsarkar opted for a showdown instead.
"But knowing fully well Mr Vengsarkar's commitment to the game, I know Mr Vengsarkar will give priority to his job," said Sharad Pawar, President, BCCI.
It was a polite way of saying that the colonel could quit if he was opposed to the BCCI's guidelines.
1. Graham Ford - Chappell
Bye Bye love, Bye Bye happiness. Or whatever little there was following India's disastrous World Cup campaign. Greg S Chappell was told his contract wouldn't be renewed. That's S for scapegoat, by the way, and he paid the price.
Now some Chak De moments need to be chucked. Out of one's memory, of course.
