Hoggard strikes in England's solid start
England's Hoggard grabbed four early wickets Saturday to push Sri Lanka to 86 for five at lunch on Saturday's first day of the opening test at Kandy

England made good use of the invitation to bowl after losing the toss.
Sanath Jayasuriya (10) looked confident and started with two well-timed boundaries but soon fell to a sharp catch by Kevin Pietersen at cover off paceman Ryan Sidebottom with the team total at 11.
With 18 more runs to the total, Michael Vandort (8) spooned a catch to England captain Michael Vaughan at mid-on, giving Hoggard the first wicket of his destructive spell.
Hoggard had Sri Lanka's captain Mahela Jayawardene (1), Chamara Silva (2) and Jehan Mubarak (0) - all caught by wicketkeeper Matthew Prior as the host team slumped from 40 for 2 to 42 for 5.
Kumar Sangakkara then combined with Number 7 Prasanna Jayawardena for an unbeaten 44-run stand to steady the home team until lunch.
Sangakkara occupied the crease for 107 minutes and faced 61 balls for his 39 runs, which included six fours.
Jayawardena was unbeaten on 23 off 34 balls.
