Karachi:John Buchanan, the former coach of the world champion Australian side, has offered to work as a consultant for the Pakistan Cricket Board.
An official of the board confirmed on Monday that Buchanan had opened his own consultancy firm after stepping down as coach of the Australian team and had written a letter to the board offering his services.
"He may have written to other boards as well but in his letter to us he has offered to train our coaches and give us long-term development plans and methods of achieving success in cricket," the official said.
He said given Buchanan's reputation and profile, the board would consider his offer accordingly but nothing was final as yet.
Pakistan recently hired former Australian pacer Geoff Lawson as their national team coach and newspaper reports suggested Buchanan had offered his services as coach to the board.
The official clarified that Buchanan offered services not as a coach but as a consultant as he was now working professionally in this capacity.
"He delivers lectures on human resource development and success in different sports and also in the corporate sector and he is developing programmes on this," the official said.
Sources said in the near future, there was every chance of Buchanan's expertise being used in some way by the PCB.
