New Delhi:
Indian captain Sourav Ganguly accepted that India needed to rethink their approach to the final of a tournament but felt it was unfair to call his men chokers. India have lost 11 of the 14 finals in one-day tournaments involving more than two teams, the latest being the 25-run debacle against hosts Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final. Ganguly put up a brave front and has defended his side's performance in recent times. "It depends how you look at it. You can say you lost so many finals. But I don't think chokers is the right term. The term chokers means not playing well under pressure, " said Ganguly. "But if we are making it to the finals, it means we have won the semi-finals where there is equal pressure. We were 2-1 down in Pakistan but we won back-to-back matches to claim the one-day series, " he added. "I accept that we are losing in the finals. We deserve to win a few finals. We have to think about how to approach the final," said the captain who was here for a promotional function where the ICC Champions Trophy was unveiled. Ganguly said that his side is the only other team than Australia which has been winning all over the world. (PTI)Topics mentioned in this article
